The objective of “The 150 Project” is to identify the PEOPLE, PLACES and THINGS that define Lindsborg and have shaped us into who we are today.
This is YOUR opportunity to be an important part of the 150th anniversary of Lindsborg. The 150 Project will give all of us an opportunity to think about why Lindsborg is so unique. Lindsborg has been home to many, many special people and events throughout its 150 years--not only our founding, but everyone and every event that has made a difference in the community throughout her history.
The Committee has determined a list of 30 of the most influential people, places and things--the ones that will be celebrated, without question. But who will our fellow Lindsborgians, past and present chose? What or who will YOU determine to be the most influential? We won’t share our list until we see all of yours!
Anyone is welcome and is invited to nominate people, places and things throughout Lindsborg's history. Submit your recommendation with 150 words (maximum) about why you are nominating the person, place or thing you have written about. We hope to see teachers make this part of a history lesson. We hope to hear from all institutions and organizations in town-- Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H Clubs, Swedish Dancers –high school and adult, Bethany College, hospital and auxiliary, Karpov Chess School, Arts Council, the Oratorio Society, Broadway RFD, etc. Nominate something or someone from each organization's own history, or Lindsborg history in general. In the end, there will be only 150 total selections. After the deadline, the committee and or appointed representatives of the committee will determine the finalists. The winning nominations will be revealed alphabetically, with the exception of the top ten. The top ten will be released numerically in ascending order after the previous 140 winning nominations. The reveal will be done at a time to be determined by the Sesquicentennial Committee, and will be presented in digital, print and display.
