WELCOME TO THE 150TH BLOG

Welcome to the interactive blog for the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Lindsborg, Kansas. The aim of this blog is to keep the conversation going!

Here you will find ideas submitted for the People, Places, and Things that contributed to the Spirit of Lindsborg. The final 50 of each category has been selected, those submissions are kept under wraps until later in the celebration year.

This site was created to accompany the nominations for the 50 most important People, Places, and Things. As the nominations have been narrowed down the Committee wanted to provide a space where anyone could write about someone or something or some place in Lindsborg that is close in their hearts and/or has a special meaning to the community at large. This is the place.

Here to start are some of the nominations submitted to celebrate this city and its people and places. Everyone who submitted a nomination has been notified if their writing is not being used.  You will want to read these nominations again and again. And, this is the place to leave your own thoughts, ideas, and heartfelt writings.

If you would like to contribute you can just jump in. There is no limit on number of words. Your writing will need to be submitted before it can be posted in order to keep the blog focused on Lindsborg and this celebratory year. Jump in and start reading and writing!

What can anyone accomplish in only 50 ears? Dale Eldon Peterson was born here in 1965 and began a life of enjoying and benefiting from what this community had to offer in learning, art, music, culture, idyllic childhood, roots, friendships – but with an urge to see the world. A 1983 graduate of SVHS, and Harvard University (“88), he was world traveler as a consultant and private adventurer. Dale’s early training in school and 4-H prepared him for using his giftedness. He worked in senior management (Furniture Division) for Pottery Barn, San Francisco, before becoming a Vice President of Martha Stewart Omnimedia where he worked with Stewart in designing and producing her inaugural furniture line. Later, he became an independent furniture designer for companies including Restoration Hardware, Ethan Allan, and Williams-Sonoma Home.

Dale never lost his appreciation for what shaped his life while growing up in Lindsborg, His life was cut short at age 50, but he left a great legacy.
